POSITION OVERVIEW The Senior Engineer, Electrical Reliability reports to the Reliability Superintendent and is the technical steward for the electrical systems and is accountable for supporting, maintaining and improving these systems including all associated documentation.

The Electrical Systems Reliability Engineer will provide leadership and discipline expertise to less experienced support staff, engineering design, maintenance, and production groups.

KNOWLEDGE Understands all facets of LNG transportation, storage and processing, including health, safety, maintenance, operations, governmental regulations and associated codes and standards.

In-depth knowledge of controls systems, national codes, standards and regulations, and their implementation in operating facilities.

RESPONSIBLITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Serves as the electrical systems administrator and provides daily electrical systems support to the plant to keep the plant systems operational.
  • Responsible for the industrial electrical systems from the field devices (motors, switches, etc.) through the distribution;
  • from 120 VAC to 13.8 kV (which includes lighting panels, power panels, UPS, motor control centers, distribution transformers, switchgear and gas turbines and diesel generators).

  • Uses sound engineering practices, plant standards and specifications, ensuring that documentation for the electrical systems are maintained properly.
  • Lead the development of documentation including updates to the unit operating manuals. Participate in the Management of Change process.

    Develop and use computer assisted engineering and design software to perform engineering tasks and develop documentation.

  • Provides technical support and troubleshooting and provide assistance in planning and coordinating work for the Maintenance department.
  • Works with maintenance and operations on reliability issues when they occur; have vision and ability to create quality solutions for any problems.

  • Serves as a plant expert on electrical system engineering issues and mentor the support groups (I / E Supervision and Technicians).
  • Understand and interpret codes, standards and regulations that are electrical related.

  • Develops proposals for plant improvements including design basis and preliminary estimates and budgets for capital projects.
  • During development and construction, support the Program Manager as assigned to minimize overruns in project-related spending.

  • Develops working relationships with other department personnel within the plant in order to seek out opportunities that will add value to each job completed.
  • Reinforces awareness of safety and environmental incidents through frequent job observations by talking to personnel working in the plant.
  • Responsible for developing or collecting information in support of permit requirements as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS)

  • Education and Certifications : Bachelor degree in Electrical or other relevant technical discipline is required.
  • Experience : A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in an industrial environment in engineering or operations. Recent experience with LNG is preferred;
  • however, refining or petrochemical industry experience is acceptable. Experience in designing, documenting, implementing and testing operating and safety procedures is necessary.

  • Skills : Strong leadership and administrative abilities are required. An acute sensitivity to safety issues in a hazardous environment.
  • Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of an organization and with individuals and groups from different disciplines, industries and governmental agencies.

    Able to work with a culturally diverse group of technical individuals whose skills cover the range required to engineer, operate and maintain the LNG receiving terminal.

    Possess the personality and ability to relate to and to establish a mutually respectful relationship with 1) management, 2) peers and 3) the various facility level workers (Plant Manager, plant supervision and plant workers) whom are all responsible for ensuring good operations.

    Organized, planning skills, able to manage multiple activities and programs timely and with a high degree of accuracy, able to meet work deadlines.

    Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills. Proficiency in use of In Tools; AutoCAD / Microstation preferred. Accomplished public speaker, able to create and deliver industry-

    specific presentations. Computer savvy including Project Management, database, Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.

    Possesses contract development and negotiating skills and is experienced in managing technical contracts from inception through execution.

    DIRECT REPORTS No direct reports. FREEDOM TO ACT The Senior Engineer, Electrical Reliability is an expert in their field and requires minimal supervision. WORK CONDITIONS

  • Job is performed in an industrial plant environment.
  • Occasionally, work may be performed from home, after normal work hours or on weekends.
  • Limited required traveling, as business conditions dictate.
  • Subject to drug and alcohol testing, per applicable federal regulations.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, work at height above ground on stairs and catwalks, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk or hear, smell, type and write.
  • Must be able to board a ship via a gangway, climb to the top of a tank (200+ steps), scale vertical steel ladder up to forty feet or more in height and lift and move objects weighting up to 30 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work indoors and outdoors, and be exposed to year-around weather conditions, ocean environment, noise, and occasionally process gases and vapors.
  • There is a considerable amount of outdoor activities involved.

  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Required to pass regularly scheduled physical examinations mandated by regulatory authorities.
  • Required to obtain mandated certification by attending Company-sponsored training in basic first aid, CPR, and LNG firefighting.
  • Must be able to pass a background check to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential(TWIC) card issued by the Transportation Security Administration.
