We are a rapidly expanding Micro-Finance institution based in Douala which is in the top quartile of its category in the country.
We require the services of a qualified and motivated candidate for the position of Assistant Accountant.
Reporting to the Finance Supervisor, the Assistant Accountant will coordinate and implement Financial, Treasury, Accounting operations in accordance with corporate policies and in compliance with fiscal, legal and regulatory / statutory requirements.
The Assistant Accountant is responsible for keeping up to date records of the enterprise in accordance with accepted accounting principles and procedures, analyzing information / data, preparing and communicating accurate and timely financial reports and statements for decision making.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Assistant Accountant :
Controls the day to day transactions of the cashier and performs daily cash reconciliation.
Controls bank records on a daily basis to ensure that all bank balances tie with office records through a monthly cash reconciliation exercise.
Raises necessary journals to update all accounting records as required.
Prepares, examines, and analyzes accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards
Advises management about issues such as resource utilization, tax strategies, and the assumptions underlying budget forecasts.
Develops, maintains, and analyzes budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted figures to actuals.
Analyzes business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations, to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice.
Compute taxes owed and prepare tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting and other tax requirements.
Evaluates and proposes modifications on the development and implementation of document recordkeeping and accounting systems, making use of current computer technology.
Assist internal and external auditors in carrying out periodic controls and audits.
Perform other tasks as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Candidate should be holder of a Masters degree or equivalent (BACC+5 Years) in Accountancy, Financial Management or related field.
A Bachelor Degree plus recognized professional certifications such as ACCA / CIMA will be considered.
Experience in similar role will be an added advantage. Be bilingual in French and English.
Demonstrated computer skills using office applications. Strong analytical and communication skills.
